The design brief for this project was to build a home filled with sun, with absolute privacy for day-to-day living. In addition, it was to be a home that would in the future be attractive a large family yet still be workable for the couple commissioning the redevelopment.

The northerly aspect of the home and the ability to peruse the pool and entertaining areas from most of the rooms was one of the most important aspects of the brief and this was achieved with stunning results.

Large, open spans for the family and kitchen areas were achieved using large steel beams and a concrete first floor system. Heating and cooling efficiency was achieved through the use of full brick downstairs, concrete slabs both for the ground and first floor, double glazing to all windows and doors and full wall and ceiling insulation.

Many features were designed and specially constructed for the home such as the large, sliding double-glazed doors with comfort pac glazing and a large vaulted ceiling in the home theatre with feature lighting for movie experiences. In addition, there are feature wall openings with down lights, a large double-sided gas fireplace and a water feature in the front entry. Along with a recessed plasma TV screen, there is timber blackbutt flooring to the family room, kitchen and cellar which features an open-tread polished blackbutt staircase with full-height glazing overlooking an outside garden feature and the master ensuite.
